Privacy Policy — PrayasExam

This Privacy Policy describes how the PrayasExam mobile application ("PrayasExam", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use it. By using PrayasExam you agree to the practices described below.

PrayasExam is operated by an independent developer based in India and is distributed via Google Play.

1. Information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. The information we do collect falls into the following categories:

1.1 Account information

• Anonymous account. When you first open PrayasExam, the app creates an anonymous account using Firebase Authentication. This account is identified by a randomly generated user ID only. No personal information is required to use the app.
• Optional Google Sign-In. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo URL from Google. You may use the app fully without signing in.

1.2 Usage information

• Quiz attempts you submit (questions, your selected answers, time taken, score)
• Bookmarks and mistakes you save
• Your selected target exam, preferred language (Gujarati / English), and notification preferences
• Daily streak counters and XP totals

This data is stored against your user ID in Google Firestore so that your progress is preserved across sessions and devices.

1.3 Device and technical information

• Device model, operating system version, app version, and language settings
• A Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token, used only to send notifications you opted into
• An advertising identifier (provided by your device's operating system), used by ads as described below

1.4 Information we do not collect

• We do not collect your phone number
• We do not collect your precise location
• We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, SMS, call logs, or files
• We do not collect any payment information (the app is free)

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the app's features — show quizzes, save your progress, sync your bookmarks and history across devices
• Display the leaderboard (your display name and score only)
• Send notifications you've opted into (such as daily quiz reminders)
• Monitor app stability and performance through Firebase Analytics
• Show advertising via Google AdMob, including personalised ads where consented
• Detect abusive or fraudulent use of the service (via Firebase App Check)

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

3. Advertising

PrayasExam displays advertisements through Google AdMob, a Google service. AdMob and its partners may collect and use information such as your advertising ID, IP address, and general usage data to serve you advertisements and measure their effectiveness.

• You can reset or limit your advertising ID at any time from your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads on Android.

PrayasExam does not show ads to users we know to be under 13 years of age.

4. Third-party services we use

PrayasExam relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

We do not share your data with any party other than these processors, except where required by law.

5. Data retention and deletion

• Your usage data (attempts, bookmarks, mistakes, streaks) is retained for as long as your account exists.
• You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing the address in Section 9. We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving a verified request.
• If you uninstall the app without requesting deletion, your data remains associated with the anonymous user ID created on first launch. You may always return and continue, or request deletion later.

6. Children's privacy

PrayasExam is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Data security

We protect your data using:

• Encrypted transport (HTTPS / TLS) for all communication with our servers
• Firebase's built-in security rules to restrict who can read or modify data
• Firebase App Check to verify that requests come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app

No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict our processing of your data
• Withdraw consent for personalised advertising

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced inside the app or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of PrayasExam after a change means you accept the revised policy.
